![]() Getting that first internship may face four previous “no’s” in reality. Not everything is easy, and more often than not, big opportunities in life are going to be hard to achieve. Finally, we need to remember to be determined and willing to work for our goals. However, along the way we each need to define what our own “true hero” entails. ![]() They will find where they thrive and will achieve the most success. ![]() I firmly believe that one day, everyone, no matter how lost or ousted they may feel currently, will one day figure it out and find where they fit best and are loved the most. As the song “One Last Hope” continues you can see the work he is willing to put into his goal of becoming a hero all the trials and training happily faced because he knows it is going to make him that much closer to achievement.Īs a both a human being and a student, all of these messages applied to our daily lives. It is clearly obvious just how excited Hercules is after Phil agrees to work with him as he perks up and basically sings, “So when do we start? Can we start now?”. However, by the end of the song he is proudly singing not just that he “ can” go the distance, but that he “ will go the distance”.Īlso, Hercules’ persistence and sheer desire to succeed is seen as he tries to persuade Phil to train him to be a true hero even though Phil claims that he is “retired”. But he also knows that his journey is not going to be easy. Even from the very beginning of his journey, with his song “Go the Distance”, Hercules knows that he can succeed as he claims, “I can go the distance”. My favorite part about this movie, though, is not found in these overt messages but in a very subtle characteristic in Hercules: his determination. When Hercules finally becomes a god again, Zues explains that “For a true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart”. Thus proving to us all that we will find “our place” in the world we live in.Īlso in this last scene, Disney defines what a “true hero” is to them. In one of the last scenes of the movie Hercules proudly states, “I wish to stay on Earth with her. However, Hercules eventually finds his place and no longer feels like the outcast he once was. Also, when he genuinely tries to help people it only ends up in destruction. None of the kids his age want to hang out with him, and they even make fun of him as they call him “Jerkulator” and “Destructo-boy”. Hercules originally feels so out of place and like a foreigner as he has this insane strength that makes him an outcast. In the war on Olympus, Meg is killed, but through Hercules’ sacrifice of love, he brings her back – saving both Meg’s life and bringing one definition as to what being a “true hero” means.Īgain, like most movies, there are the obvious themes and messages Disney throws at us: Hades’ plan to take over Olympus almost succeeds but Hercules manages to stop the angry Titans from destruction. In his journey to become a god, he meets monsters that Hades throws at him in hopes to kill him but most importantly he meets Meg, the woman that captures his heart. Hercules then sets out to become a true hero as he meets Phil, the trainer of heroes, and is assisted by his partner, Pegasus. Zeus eventually reveals his past but informs Hercules that he cannot enter back into Olympus until he becomes a “true hero”. Hercules does not know he is a god, but does know he has incredibly great strength and does not quite seem to fit in anywhere. However, the plan is interrupted and instead Hercules (now mortal) must live outside the gates of Olympus. The story begins with Hades turning the little baby Hercules into a mortal so he could kill him and his plan of taking over Olympus would succeed. This movie show follows Hercules in his quest to become a true hero. The final Disney movie we will be covering is Hercules.
